MC Freezes

Microsoft Windows

My system configuration is as follows;
Asus P4P800S-X motherboard
Intel 2.8E Prescott CPU
ATI 9600XT video card
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS sound card
(2) ATI E-Home Wonder TV tuner cards (one w/FM one w/o)
NEC ND2510A DVD+/-RW
Western Digital WD2000JD SATA hard drive
and an Ahanix D.Vine 5 case w/VFD

Overall the system performs perfectly but, the problem I am having is that
about three minutes after media center is opened the system hangs, sound
stops, the screen freezes and the system will not accept input from the
keyboard or mouse. Before freezing, TV playback and recording, DVD playback,
CD playback and recording, VFD, and all other Media Center functions work
flawlessly. The crash happens about three minutes after the ehome shell is
opened regardless of media center's current undertaking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you mean it works perfectly before you start MCE? Or do you mean that after
three minutes it hangs whatever you are doing? If so it sounds like it's
overheating. Check the all the fans are spinning on CPU, graphics card &
motherboard.

Other than that many people have had trouble with the E-home Wonder cards.
Thank you for the reply.
Yes, windows will perform as it should as long as media center is not open,
and yes, all of the fans are spinning. I have not recorded any cpu or
motherboard temperatures above 165 Degrees C. I have tried removing the
E-Home Wonder cards and replacing them with a single Hauppage PVR-250 card
and the problem persists. I have also tried formatting my hard drive and
starting with a fresh installation of windows and the problem persists.
When I removed the case lid to chech the status on the fans I noticed a
clicking sound coming from the hard drive soon after the failure occurs. Is
it possible for a hard drive to overheat? It sits in a fairly confined space
inside the case. If so, why only when media center is open? Why not during
normal windows operation?

As always any advice is welcome
